Lip sneer in Morroccan agate

Toothy smile revealed in natural stone. Red lips and white teeth. Cut and carved from a naturally colored piece of Morroccan seam agate.  Part of the nonsense series, using gemstones to carve unusual and human shapes.

Sometimes the stones will tell you what to do and you have to go with it.  In this case, I had outlined the lips shape on a slab of agate, and it sat on my bench for years before anything happened.  One day I picked it up, cleaned off the outline and drew it with a new sneer, showing the teeth.  I knew immediately that I had to make it happen.
